In addition, the American Shad run on the St. Johns River is going strong. Double digit catches are common. They are like catching baby tarpon on unltralight tackle.
Located just east of Orlando, I guide saltwater fishing charters in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon. This is the closest inshore flats fishing to Orlando and Disney. These trips are ideal for anglers searching for light-tackle or fly-fishing adventures near Central Florida’s theme parks or the beaches of New Smyrna, Daytona, and Cocoa.

My primary style of fishing is sight fishing the flats with spinning tackle or fly fishing gear. The primary species I target is redfish. Other popular species include seatrout, back drum, snook, and tarpon. In addition to those trips, I also have easy catching charters for kids and anglers with less experience.
I provide everything you need for your fishing trip except food and drinks. All you need to do is show up ready to fish. Often you are fishing in less than two feet of water and catching hard pulling fish. Enjoy calm protected waters with no chance of getting seasick.
Whether you enjoy casting artificial lures, fly fishing, or using live bait, Central Florida Sight Fishing Charters offers a trip for all ages and levels of experience. Check out the latest Central Florida Fishing Report to see what we have been catching. Most of my fishing charters are in the Mosquito Lagoon or north Indian River Lagoon which is inside or near the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. This is about a one hour drive from the Orlando area and Disney. 30 minutes from Cocoa Beach & Daytona Beach and close to New Smyrna Beach. While the name is scary, there are no bugs while fishing

I am USCG licensed, fully insured and have been offering guided fishing trips for over 20 years. I have nearly 40 years of experience fishing the salt waters of east central Florida. As your fishing guide, I guarantee a 100% effort to put my clients in the best position to catch fish. Many of my fishing trips are inside the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. In addition to the fish, you can also see manatee, dolphin, alligators, and a huge variety of wading and migratory birds on our waters.
Our primary targets are redfish, black drum, and spotted seatrout. In summer, tarpon and snook can be found as well. Sight fishing is an exciting and challenging way to fish the lagoon system. Test your casting skills and experience the thrill of targeting big fish in shallow water. As one of the few Mosquito Lagoon Fly Fishing Guides, I can put both fly and spin fishing anglers in the best position to make effective casts to shallow water species.
I offer 4, 6, & 8 hour fishing charters year round. Your trip length can be modified during the day to meet your needs. You supply your own food and drink, I will supply all fishing equipment and licenses. No experience necessary. All trips are catch, photo, and release only in an effort to preserve the fish stock for other clients and anglers in the future.
These are the boat ramps I use. The Beacon 42 and George Kennedy Park are the locations we launch from most often
For those wanting to go on a Orlando fly fishing trip a Fly Fishers International Certified Casting Instructor, I am the only full time saltwater fly fishing guide with that certification. I specialize in sight fishing for redfish, seatrout, drum, and tarpon with fly fishing tackle all year round.

Kids as young as 4 can catch lots of saltwater fish, see dolphin and manatee close to the boat, and enjoy this unique estuary. Kids and family charters near New Smyrna Beach mean there are no rough waves or long boat rides.

The simple rule of thumb for most guided saltwater sight fishing is, the better you cast, the more you can catch. During good weather, it is not uncommon to see and have shots and hundreds of fish in a day.
I provide all licenses, baits, and tackle. You will need your own food and drink, sunscreen, sunglasses and anything else you may need.
I offer both fly fishing and spinning tackle charters. Please discuss your preference when booking
Charters will never be conducted in dangerous weather conditions of lightning, heavy rain, or extreme winds. Charters will not be canceled due to clouds or moderate winds unless agreed upon by both parties. Deposits will not be refunded solely because the weather is not optimal.
If you are coming only to fish and want to be close to the water, Titusville, Edgewater, and New Smyrna Beach offer the closest lodging options. Orlando and Disney are about one hour away and is a home base for may of my clients. If you would like help finding a place to stay, contact me for specific recommendations.
A rental car will be your best option to get to and from the boat ramp. Uber and Lyft can easily take you to the ramps but it can be difficult finding someone to pick you up from them
